The Gospel Truth: Music for Lizzie Bright

This production of Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy is unusual in that director Robert Colby and music director Samantha Gambaccini have added thirty songs to the show. The songs range from Congregational hymns to well known African American Spirituals and also include folksongs and popular songs of the time, as well as a contemporary composition.  In the variety, we can see the contrast in worship styles between the people of Phippsburg and Malaga Island, while also seeing the possibility of connection between the communities through music. Below you can find all the songs used in the show, their credits, and some links to video examples the production used throughout the rehearsal process. Enjoy!
