I AM – Trans People Speak

November 7, 2013 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

A presentation of video profiles of trans folks from across the country with a Q&A from director/ Emerson alum Jesse Begeny. (co sponsored by EAGLE)

I AM: Trans People Speak is a project to raise awareness about the diversity that exists within transgender communities. It gives a voice to transgender individuals, as well as their families, friends, and allies.

Together we can make our own media and continue to make a positive change in the representation of transgender people. We do this by focusing on the full individual. Transgender people come from a range of experiences and backgrounds, including age, race, ethnicity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.

About the Director:
Jesse Begenyi is a Boston based documentary filmmaker and photographer who uses documentary media as a tool to create social change by highlighting the experiences of oppressed and marginalized communities. Jesse’s core values are creativity, accountability, anti-oppression, solidarity, consent, and transparency. Jesse uses the camera as a way to speak with people, and not for them.
